Servings 4 children

Ingredients

Materials Needed

  • 1 bottle Washable paint (non-toxic)
  • 2 pieces Paintbrushes or sponges for application
  • 1 large Sheet of paper or canvas
  • 1 piece Plastic tray (for easier cleanup)
  • 1 bowl Water and soap (for washing off footprints)
  • 1 roll Paper towels (for drying)
  • 1 set Aprons or old clothes (to protect clothing)

Instructions

Setup

  • Lay down a large sheet of paper or canvas on the floor or a table. Place the plastic tray nearby with various colors of washable paint.

Preparation

  • Put on aprons to protect their clothing. Explain the activity to them, encouraging them to think about the designs they want to create.

Choose Colors

  • Allow the children to pick the colors they want to use. Pour a little of each color into sections of the plastic tray.

Make Footprints

  • One by one, have the kids dip their feet into the paint and walk onto the paper, pressing down gently to leave clear prints. Encourage them to experiment with mixing colors by stepping in different paint areas.

Repeat and Explore

  • Let them repeat the process, adding more footprints and designs. Allow them to be creative and guide them if they want to create shapes or patterns with their steps.

Drying Time

  • Once finished, set the artwork aside to dry. Supervise as they wash or wipe their feet with water and soap, ensuring they clean up properly.

Notes

For less mess, use a shallow box instead of a tray. Turn on some music for added fun during the activity!
