  • 1 small bowl Small bowls or trays (for the water) To hold water for dipping.
  • 1 cup Water For dipping the filters.
  • 1 pair Scissors For shaping the flowers, adult supervision needed.
  • 2 pieces Pipe cleaners or green floral wire Used as stems for the flowers.
  • 1 roll Paper towels For drying the colored filters.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Set up a clean area where kids can create their flowers without concern for spills. Cover the table with a plastic tablecloth or newspaper for easy cleanup.

Creating Flowers

  • Give each child a coffee filter and let them use washable markers to color the top side, creating unique patterns or color blocks.
  • Fill small bowls or trays with a little water. Kids will dip the colored filter into the water for a moment to spread the colors.
  • Remove the filter from the water and gently shake off the excess, then place the colored filters on paper towels or a clean baking tray to dry (30 minutes to an hour).
  • Once dry, stack two or three filters on top of each other and pinch them in the center to shape the flowers.
  • Wrap a pipe cleaner or piece of floral wire around the base of the flower to secure it, bending the stem for added charm.

Notes

To create a bouquet, combine multiple flowers of various colors and sizes for a beautiful display. Encourage kids to use their imagination and enjoy the creative process.
