Ingredients

Craft Materials

  • 2 pieces Coffee filters Per bat
  • 1 set Black washable markers Use these for coloring
  • Optional Small googly eyes For decorating the bats
  • 1 piece Pipe cleaner Black or purple for antenna
  • 1 piece Scissors For cutting the filters
  • 1 bottle Glue To assemble the bats
  • 1 bottle Spray bottle with water Optional for tie-dye effect
  • 1 piece Plastic tray For easier cleanup

Instructions

Preparation

  • Start by laying the coffee filters flat. Use black washable markers to color the entire surface of one coffee filter. For added fun, consider adding a mix of purple, orange, or other colors.
  • If desired, lightly spray the colored coffee filter with water to create a blend of colors. This step is optional.

Creating the Bat

  • Once the filter is colored and dried (or partially dried), take the second coffee filter and fold it in half. Snip the folded edge in a wavy line to create the edges of the bat wings.
  • Place the colored coffee filter on a flat surface and position the wavy-edged filter on top to form the wings. Use glue to secure them together.
  • Glue googly eyes onto the front of the colored filter. For the antenna, twist a pipe cleaner into a small 'V' shape and secure it to the top of the bat with glue.
  • Allow everything to dry completely before hanging your bat.

Notes

Maintain a clean workspace by using a plastic tray beneath the coffee filters. Let kids personalize their bats to foster creativity.
