1️⃣ Bake the Cake
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 8-inch round cake pans.
In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
In another bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract.
Alternate adding the dry ingredients and milk, mixing until the batter is smooth.
Divide the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
2️⃣ Prepare the Frosting & Decorations
Divide the buttercream into different bowls: light blue for the main frosting, dark blue for details, white for accents, and black for facial features.
Use blue food coloring to achieve the right Bluey shade. Mix well.
3️⃣ Assemble & Frost the Cake
Place one cake layer on a cake stand. Spread a layer of buttercream and stack the second cake on top.
Cover the entire cake with a smooth layer of light blue buttercream using an offset spatula.
Chill for 30 minutes to set the frosting.
4️⃣ Create Bluey’s Face
Use dark blue buttercream to add Bluey’s markings (ears, forehead, and outer eyes).
Use white buttercream to pipe the eyes and mouth area.
Cut fondant shapes for the eyes, nose, and mouth. Place them carefully to complete Bluey’s face.
Add black details with buttercream to enhance expressions.
5️⃣ Final Touches & Presentation
Smooth out any imperfections and add edible shimmer dust for extra fun!
Display on a cake stand and get ready for the big celebration! 🎉
