Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Cake:

    • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
    • 2 ½ tsp baking powder
    • 1 tsp salt
    • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
    • 2 cups granulated sugar
    • 4 large eggs
    • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
    • 1 cup milk
  • For the Frosting & Decoration:

    • 3 cups buttercream or fondant
    • Food coloring (pink, white, or any preferred shade)
    • Edible pearls, sprinkles, or shimmer dust
    • A Barbie doll (wrapped in plastic or food-safe wrap)

Instructions

1️⃣ Bake the Cake

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a round cake pan (or multiple layers for stacking).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In another bowl, cream together butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract.
  4. Alternate adding the dry ingredients and milk, mixing until smooth.
  5. Pour the batter into the cake pan and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  6. Let the cake cool completely before moving to the next step.

2️⃣ Prepare the Cake Structure

  1. If using multiple layers, stack and trim the cakes to create a dome shape. Use a serrated knife to level the tops.
  2. Carve a hole in the center large enough to fit the Barbie doll.

3️⃣ Insert the Barbie and Apply the Crumb Coat

  1. Wrap the Barbie doll’s lower half in plastic wrap. Carefully place her into the hole.
  2. Apply a thin layer of buttercream over the cake as a crumb coat. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.

4️⃣ Decorate the Dress

  1. Use a piping bag to create rosettes, ruffles, or swirls with buttercream.
  2. If using fondant, roll it out and drape it over the cake to create an elegant dress. Smooth it down carefully.
  3. Add edible pearls, sprinkles, or shimmer dust for extra beauty.

5️⃣ Final Touches & Presentation

  1. Place the finished Barbie cake on a cake stand.
  2. Take a moment to admire your masterpiece before serving! 🎂

Notes

  • For a structured cake: Use dense cake recipes like pound cake to hold the Barbie in place.
  • Color customization: Experiment with different shades using food coloring.
  • Storage: Keep the cake refrigerated and consume within 3 days.
